Beijing spoke to Govt about visit
The Government was spoken to by the Chinese Embassy before a visit by the Dalai Lama, and no representative met him on his visit to Christchurch.
Fresh protests in Tibet
Two Tibetan monks have been arrested for protesting against Chinese rule in eastern Tibet reported Voice of Tibet (VoT), today. The protest took place at around 11 am on June 6 in Kardze town, Kham province, an area which has witnessed repeated protests by Tibetans against Beijing’s rule. The report said that the unidentified monks from Kardze monastery raised slogans and distributed pamphlets calling for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in front of the police headquarters in Kardze town.
TYC vows to retain the name ‘Tibetan Government-in-exile’
Dharamshala: The largest pro-independence organisation in exile, the Tibetan Youth Congress (TYC), vowed to ‘respect and continue to recognise and retain the name of Tibetan Government-in-exile’ at a press conference, today.

His Holiness Offers Prayers for New Zealand Quake Victims
Around 5000 people were gathered in Christchurch to hear His Holiness the Dalai Lama today. CBS Canterbury Arena staff member said people had been steadily pouring into the stadium since 8:30am for the Tibetan spiritual leader's midday speech. During the arrival of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at Christchurch airport, his supporters came to greet him. Some people were in tears, while others offered white scarves as blessings.

DHARAMSHALA: A group of four monks, three from Guru Monastery and one from Jamjor Monastery, raised slogans of “long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama”, “Tibet is independent” and “invite His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet” during their spontaneous peaceful protest in Nyagrong in eastern Tibet’s Kham Province on 8 May 2010, a video received by the Central Tibetan Administration revealed.
