Protests continue in Kardze despite heightened restriction
DHARAMSHALA: Two monks of Khangmar monastery in Kardze in eastern Tibet on last Friday staged peaceful demonstration calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet, a monk from Sera Jey monastery in India said.

Saka Dawa marked with protest in Tibet
A Tibetan monk from Dargyal monastery, eastern Tibet called for Tibet’s freedom at a large religious congregation on the 15th day of Saka Dawa in Kardze town at around 7 am, yesterday. According to information received by Phayul.com, 37-year old Ngawang Lobsang threw leaflets demanding freedom in Tibet while raising slogans for the long life and return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama at an early morning gathering of religious devotees.

His Holiness inaugurates Garden of Enlightenment in Queensland's Sunshine Coast
BRISBANE: His Holiness spent the day at Chenrezig Institute, one of the first Buddhist centres in the western world. He admired the centre's serene location, and later wandered through the green surroundings. The highlight of his visit was the inauguration of Garden of Enlightenment, an ornamental garden with eight stupas depicting the Eight Great Deeds of Buddha's life.
