Dharamsala, March 19 – Tension ran high Friday as thousands of Tibetan residents of Amdo Ngaba paid their last respects to Phuntsok, a 20 year old monk of Kirti monastery who died after he set himself ablaze on Wednesday, marking the third year since deadly crackdown on protesters in Ngaba on March 16, 2008.

Dalai Lama asks Tibetans to embrace democratic change, rejects parliament's resolution
Dharamsala, 19: Exiled Tibetan leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama rejected the resolution of the Tibetan parliament appealing the 75 year old exiled Tibetan leader to reconsider his decision. The Tibetan leader, in a letter sent to the ongoing Tibetan parliament session, said he can not accept the parliament's resolution and that he stands firm on his decision made clear in his statement of March 14, 2011.

Tibetans vote to elect new prime minister-in-exile
Dharamsala/Shimla: Thousands of Tibetans across the world today voted to elect the prime minister of the Tibetan government-in-exile, an exercise that may usher in a transition in the community's leadership following the Dalai Lama's "flat refusal" to reconsider his decision to retire as its political head.

Tibetans and Japanese Pray for Earthquake and Tsunami Victims
TOKYO: The Tibetan community in Japan organised a prayer gathering at Gokokuji Temple in Tokyo in which some 60 people participated despite the radiation fear lurking in the city. The prayer gathering was in tandem with the one held in Dharamsala and other monasteries in India for the people affected by the massive earthquake in Japan.
