Former Tibetan political prisoner Tanak Jigme Sangpo cremated with honours and prayers in Switzerland

Geneva: Tibet’s longest political prisoner Tanak Jigme Sangpo was cremated today with honours and prayers in Winterthur, Switzerland. His casket was wrapped in the Tibetan National flag as a mark of respect and honour for all the sacrifices and sufferings he endured for the freedom of his homeland, Tibet.

Tributes poured in from around the world on Saturday as word spread that the former Tibetan political prisoner who spent almost half his life in Chinese prison and had spent the remaining in exile relentlessly advocating of the Tibetan cause had died at the age of 91.
