The 40th Year Anniversary of Tibetan Community in Horgen

The 40th Year Anniversary of Tibetan Community in Horgen was celebrated on the Saturday, 18th December, 2010 in the Reformierte Kirchgemeindehaus, Horgen. The function was attended by various dignitories and started with the scarf offering ceremony to His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s throne. The reverend monks from the Tibet Institute, Rikon then offered the long live prayers to His Holiness and to the victims of the earthquake in Tibet.
The Tibetan School, Horgen and the local dance group presented the song composed by Tenzin Losal dedicated for the 40th Year Anniversary celebration and Mr. Tsering Gyurmey, the wel-known pop singer had composed the music and added melody to this song.

Mr. Tashi Wangkhang, the President OC spoke on this occasion and thanked the Local Commune, on behalf of all the Tibetans in Horgen for their continuous support and hospitality. The individual members who had been effectively living in Horgen for 40 years were presented with a Tibetan Scarf and Souvenir as a symbol of special recognition. The slide show presentation of the rich cultural heritage of Tibet of the past and the present, and the movie clipped by Mr. Phuntsok Tsering from Germany, depicting the effect of the earthquake in the Tibet's region Yuschu was also shown to the audience. The picture showing before and after the earthquake in the region was clearly highlighted to the audience.

The local Tibetan Dance Group, Tibetan School Horgen and the Horgen Kargil Boys performed various songs and Traditional dances. As a special guest, Phurbu T. Namgyal from the United States was invited and performed some of his favorite songs. Photos..
