Tibetan Language and Cultural Competition in Basel, Switzerland

Basel: 29th June 2019. Tibetan School Committee of the Tibetan Community in Switzerland & Liechtenstein organized 6th Tibetan Language and Cultural competition at Pratteln, Basel. More than 300 students from 20 Tibetan language schools in Switzerland participated in this Competition. To improve the standard of Tibetan language, every year the Tibetan language school organizes a competition among all the weekend Tibetan language schools. This year it was organized by Tibetan Language School of Basel, Aargau, Luzern, Solothurn, Bern and Lausanne.

Mr. Gewa Sangpo, the Chief Organizer of the competition stated that the competition is special as here and effort has been made to encourage each and every student to participate in the competition to show their ability and talent. "The competition is not only to search for the winner but to give an opportunity to the entire contestants to participate proudly with interest and joy. We tried to explore their ability to speak, write, sing, and dance and to perform on the stage without any fear. We motivated them to concentrate on their talent with self-assurance. During the Question and answer session, keeping in mind not to destroy their self-confidence, we tried not to criticize directly, when someone gave wrong answer. The main aim of this competition is to encourage all the children and parents to take more interest in Tibetan language and culture," he said.

The event was organized to encourage every Tibetans in exile to work together in maintaining and preserving our rich Tibetan culture, language and tradition.
