Tibet Workshop Organized in Brig, Switzerland
A workshop on Tibet was organized in Brig on the 16th of March 2012 by Nyima Rinzin, Berchtold Markus and Schmidhadlter. The workshop is a first in the southern Swiss city of Brig. ‘‘Micheal and Markus brought this idea to me about organizing a Tibet workshop in Brig which i accepted with great pleasure‘‘ said Nyima Rinzin, one of the three responsible for organizing the workshop. Micheal is a young Swiss working at SSB and also produces documentary movies. Markys is also a Swiss working as freelance agent for Amnesty International. The workshop was addressed by Phuntsok Nyidon la, former political prisoner in Tibet. Phuntsok Nyidon shared her personal experience as a political prisoner in Tibet with translation help from Mr. Bhumkyapp from Thun. A 20 minutes worth of video clips relating to the recent self immolations in Tibet was shown at the workshop. Despite low expectancy, a surprisingly huge number of participants turned out at the workshop including Mr Erwin Heinzmann, chef from the Refugee centre in Oberwallis. Partcipants watched the videos in complete silence and listened to Phuntsok Nyidon la‘s talk with great interest. Some even had tears in their eyes. Photo..
