Info event “Security SHDL” in Oetwil am See
Following an invitation by the Tibetan Community in Switzerland and Liechtenstein (TCSL), His Holiness the Dalai Lama will visit Basle from February 7-8, 2015.
Security SHDL will support the local police along with other security forces and ensure security during the event in Basle.
On 10 January 2015, the info event “Security SHDL” for the volunteer security staff took place in Oetwil am See. The event was organised by the Security SHDL team leaders Tsering Thundup Shawa (security coordinator), Palden Gangshontsang, Tenda Chokchampa and Namgyal Gangshontsang. Seventy security staff as well as guests and helpers attended the event.
Kungo Ngodup Dorjee, representative of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, and Dawa Tsultrim attended the event on behalf of the Tibet Office Geneva. The TCSL was represented by its president Lobsang Gangshontsang. Furthermore, guests such as chisur Ngawang Gangshontsang, Tenzin D. Sewo, Lhakpa Dhakyel (team volunteering) and project leader Johannes Gruess, who gave a short walkie-talkie training session to team and group leaders, were present at the info event.
General as well as task-specific security information were provided. Moreover, the duties and responsibilities of the different teams (eight teams) were introduced to the team members. During the coffee and lunch break as well as a group work activity, the team members had the opportunity to get to know each other. One of the highlights of the day surely was the presentation (incl. Q&A session) by Thomas Tanner from the Kantonspolizei Zürich (EG DIAMANT, special police unit of KAPO ZH).
The event was very well received by its participants and “Security SHDL” thanks all contributors, speakers, volunteers and guests for their attendance.
Special thanks to chisur Ngawang Gangshontsang for organizing the venue (free of charge) in Oetwil am See and Thomas Tanner for his valuable inputs.
