DHARAMSHALA, January 31: Tibetan spiritual leader His Holiness the Dalai Lama arrived back in his exile home of Dharamshala after a successful minor eye surgery in the Indian capital New Delhi today afternoon.

The situation in Tibet is alarming and the number of violent clashes between Tibetans and Chinese police forces rising. Since March 2011, 16 Tibetans have committed self-immolation. The Chinese shoot and beat up our Tibetan brothers and sisters. Many have died. Injured Tibetans restrain from seeking medical treatment since they fear getting detained. The situation is deteriorating and absolutely unacceptable.

DHARAMSHALA, January 24: In news just in, at least five Tibetans have died in police firings in Serthar, eastern Tibet today. The incidence occurred earlier today when a large crowd of Tibetans gathered in the central town of Serthar and started raising slogans calling for Tibet’s independence.
