Dharamshala: - The holy Buddhist month of Saga Dawa saw a series of protests in Kardze (Ch: Ganzi) in Eastern Tibet. Atleast 39 known Tibetans have been arrested in June 2011 for staging demonstrations calling for a "Free Tibet", "Long live His Holiness the Dalai Lama" and "Return of the Dalai Lama to Tibet".

An Indian military delegation has arrived in China for a visit aimed at re-establishing defense ties between the two Asian giants after a year-long freeze. The eight-member delegation led by Major General Gurmeet Singh arrived in Beijing Sunday. DHARAMSHALA: Two monks of Khangmar monastery in Kardze in eastern Tibet on last Friday staged peaceful demonstration calling on the Chinese government to respect human rights in Tibet, a monk from Sera Jey monastery in India said.

A Tibetan monk from Dargyal monastery, eastern Tibet called for Tibet’s freedom at a large religious congregation on the 15th day of Saka Dawa in Kardze town at around 7 am, yesterday. DHARAMSHALA: Echoing concerns raised by the United Nations over enforced disappearances in Tibet last week, the European Union officials today urged China to give full information on the whereabouts of over 300 detained monks of Kirti Monastery in northeastern Tibet.

BEIJING (AP) — China rejected pressure from a U.N. human rights panel about more than 300 Tibetan monks and said Thursday that local authorities are "conducting legal education" for the monks to maintain order.

Two Tibetan monks have been arrested for protesting against Chinese rule in eastern Tibet reported Voice of Tibet (VoT), today. The protest took place at around 11 am on June 6 in Kardze town, Kham province, an area which has witnessed repeated protests by Tibetans against Beijing’s rule. The report said that the unidentified monks from Kardze monastery raised slogans and distributed pamphlets calling for the return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama in front of the police headquarters in Kardze town.

Dharamsala, June 1 – Two Tibetan women arrested on April 22 in the clash between Tibetans and Chinese troops near Kirti monastery have been released after nearly a month in detention, a Tibetan source with contacts in Ngaba said. Choko, 45, of Trinchen Tsang house in Thawa Gongma Township, and Serkyi, 35, daughter of Lokle Trakho of Thawa Gongma Township, were released on May 17. The two had been severely tortured in detention and their heads shaved, the source said, adding that they physical condition is critical.

DHARAMSHALA: The first session of the 15th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile opened today, opening a new chapter in the history of Tibetan democracy. In his opening remarks, Mr Penpa Tsering, the speaker of the Tibetan Parliament in Exile, said “the opening of a new chapter at this landmark turning point in democracy necessitates the members of the 15th Tibetan Parliament to take greater responsibility than ever before.”
