20 Year Old Tibetan Monk Self-immolates in Golok
Tibetan sources tell VOA that Tsering Gyal, a 20 year old Tibetan monk of Akyong Monastery from Pema County, Golok Tibetan Prefecture, Qinhai Province set himself on fire around 6.00 PM local time on November 11, 2013. Gyal is survived by his mother Rindol and father Sherphun.

They contain the reckoning of a Tibetan who once believed in the goals of the Chinese Communist Party and carved out a career within the Beijing bureaucracy. To protect his anonymity, the official, who is known nationwide, met secretly with SPIEGEL at a restaurant in a Chinese provincial city. He hopes that what he has written about the oppression of his people will be published as a book in the West, thereby exerting pressure on the leaders in Beijing.

Tibetan musician releases music video honoring self-immolations
A Tibetan singer from the Chinese province of Sichuan has released a song and musical video titled “Patriotic Martyrs” in tribute to Tibetan self-immolations, of which there have been 119 since 2009. The immolations, an increasingly severe problem for Beijing, are a form of political protest against China’s rule over Tibet and its restrictions on political and religious freedoms there.

DHARAMSHALA: Details slowly trickling from Tibet reveal a dramatic increase in the number of Tibetans shot and injured during His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s 78th birthday celebration in Tawu region of eastern Tibet.
