UN NGOs call for the protection and promotion of basic human rights in Tibet
GENEVA: ECOSOC NGOs called upon the UN Human Rights Council for the protection and promotion of basic human rights as guaranteed in international laws on 23 September during the Council's 18th Session in Geneva. The NGOs said UN must condemn perpetrators in the strongest terms wherever and whoever involved be it member state.

6.8-magnitude earthquake kills 7 and injures 22 in Tibet
DHARAMSHALA, September 19: An earthquake measuring 6.8 on the Richter scale struck the Indian border state of Sikkim Sunday evening, sending tremors throughout the region. According to incoming reports, the earthquake has killed over 50 people and injured several others in India, Nepal and Tibet.

Chinese mining officials open fire on Tibetan workers
DHARAMSHALA September 20: Four Tibetan labourers have been injured after Chinese mining officials opened fire on them over a wage payment clash on Saturday in Tibetan area of Chatreng in Kardze, a newly arrived Tibetan told the Voice of Tibet radio.
